From July 1, the Czech Republic holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union‼️

The member states follow in a specific order with six-month periods. The current, the previous and the next presiding country form the Presidential Troika.

Since the Treaty of Lisbon, the country holding the presidency has had technical and organizational tasks, and its decisive role appears in the Council's political agenda.  The task of the presidency is to mediate and to create compromises.

Hungary held the presidency of the EU from January 1 to June 30, 2011. In the period between July 1 and December 31, 2024, our country will once again perform the duties of the EU presidency in the trio formed with Belgium and Poland.
